After James Hetfield and Kirk Hammett recently confirmed that Metallica are working on their first new studio album since 2008's Death Magnetic, the band has now posted footage of Hetfield recording in the studio.

Last week, the band announced that their fan club is now free to fans, and those who have signed up or plan on signing up can check out a new video hosted by drummer Lars Ulrich. In the clip, Ulrich talks about the band's newly designed website and then takes the viewer inside the studio, where Hetfield is laying down guitars with producer Greg Fidelman. While it's only a few seconds of riffs, it's sure to get any Metallica fan excited for the band's new album.

When asked about the album recently, Kirk Hammett told Ultimate Classic Rock, "It’s heavy. We’ve got some heavy stuff going. It delivers on that front for sure. You know, I would say a lot of it is along the lines of Death Magnetic."
