COEUR D'ALENE, Idaho (AP) — The Kootenai County Sheriff's Office says the body of a man who was reported missing earlier this month was found in a lake Friday night.

The sheriff's office says that shortly after 8:30 p.m. it received a call from a local dive company saying that divers had found a body in Lake Coeur d'Alene. The sheriff's office says its Recreation Safety Section and Dive Team members pulled the body of Gary "Scotty" Shawver of Post Falls from the bottom of the lake.

Shawver had been missing since Aug. 2, when he reportedly jumped into the lake from a boat to retrieve a hat that had blown into the water. The sheriff's office says an autopsy will be conducted early next week.
