TWIN FALLS, Id (KMVT / KSVT) Monsanto celebrated its grand opening of the new Wheat Technology Center in Filer Thursday afternoon. Many people were in attendance for the event including Lt. Gov. Brad Little and vice president of Monsanto, Dr. Robb Farley.
After the ribbon cutting ceremony, there was a grand tour of the new facility which will serve as the company's core U.S. wheat breeding and research and development facility. "Today was a really big day for Monsanto and we hope a really big day for the Magic Valley region. We know that this is a growing and developing region especially when it comes to manufacturing.
A lot of great things happening here right now and it is really good to be a part of that scene here in the Magic Valley region,” said Ben Eberle, Communications Manager. Monsanto says it is striving to bring stronger and more resilient varieties of wheat. Farmers face a lot of challenges every season and this center is all about finding solutions to those issues. The expansion added 14,000 square feet of growing space, wheat seed cleaning facility, and about 40 jobs.
