Mysterious Ciri Confirmed as Playable in The Witcher 3
Geralt is back again in The Witcher 3: The Wild Hunt, but for the first time, there's another playable character in the game.
Though it might seem like The Witcher 3 development team is in a bit of a rut considering the game was pushed back once again, CD Projekt Red isn't sitting idly by waiting for the time to pass. To sate fan hunger for new details, the developer has confirmed the identity of the new playable character in the sequel. Ciri is the newest addition to Witcher 3 and she's definitely playable.
Ciri is a "descendant in a long-lost Elven-blood lineage [and she] plays an important role in the Witcher lore -- a powerful, living weapon capable of both healing and destroying the world she inhabits." She's being pursued by the Wild Hunt, which means that Geralt has to find her before they do. With her swordfighting abilities, and fast and agile movements, along with her mythical powe,r it seems she should be able to stay alive long enough, but we'll just have to wait and see.
CDPR wanted to make sure that the game was still about Geralt, just as the past Witchers have been, but it added Ciri to, "[unlock] quite a few narrative possibilities for the team." As such, she won't be featured as frequently as Geralt, but being given the opportunity to try out a new character to shake things up once in a while should still make her interesting.
If you're excited to play Ciri in The Witcher 3, it will (supposedly) be out on May 19 for PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. Fingers crossed.
