Nebraska Assistant Coach Resigning to Take Same Job at Boise State
LINCOLN, Neb. (AP) — Nebraska assistant men's basketball coach Phil Beckner has resigned to take a similar job at Boise State. Coach Tim Miles announced Beckner's resignation Tuesday.
Beckner was on the Cornhuskers' staff for one season after spending 2014-15 as an assistant coach in the NBA Development League. He previously worked seven seasons at Weber State in Utah.
Miles said he supports Beckner's decision "because I want our guys to be happy." Miles also said moving west and being with coaches he knows well would be a good move for Beckner.
Miles also announced freshman guard Bakari Evelyn has decided to transfer. Evelyn played in 18 games and totaled 24 points and nine rebounds.
