New Catholic Bishop Named for Idaho

BOISE, Idaho (KLIX) - The Roman Catholic Diocese of Boise announced the appointment of its 8th bishop.

According to the diocese website, Pope Francis has chosen Bishop Peter F. Christensen, of the Diocese of Superior, Wisconsin, as Eighth Bishop of Boise. He follows Bishop Bishop Michael P. Driscoll who announced his retirement earlier this year.

Bishop Christensen will be installed as the Boise bishop December 17th at St. John Cathedral. The Diocese of Boise encompasses the entire state of Idaho. Bishop Christensen will shepherd roughly 165,000 Catholics in Idaho.
