JEROME, Idaho (AP) — A south-central Idaho deputy has fatally shot a man who was wanted in a kidnapping case.

Jerome County Sheriff Doug McFall says 26-year-old Daniel Young of Gooding was shot and killed by a deputy late Thursday morning. McFall says the shooting took place at an intersection along a rural road in Jerome County. Sheriff's deputies say Young was a suspect in a case involving the kidnapping and stabbing of a young man on Oct. 26.

The man, who officials didn't name, was attacked and then dropped off in the desert just outside of Shoshone. He was later treated with non-threatening wounds at a hospital. McFall declined to say if Young was armed when the deputy shot him.
