UPDATE: Police have identified the 63 year old woman who was killed in a crash with a semi-truck hauling diesel. According to Idaho State Police, Susan Hobbs, of Clayton, was not wearing a seat belt and died in the crash. The driver of the semi was wearing a seat belt and survived the crash without serious injury. Crews were able to open a portion of Highway 75 Tuesday evening.

RIGBY, Idaho (KLIX) – One person was killed Tuesday morning after a crash involving a passenger vehicle and a semi-truck near Challis.

The crash, which happened at around 8:45 a.m. at milepost 227 on Idaho 75 near the East Fork Salmon River Bridge Complex, caused the tanker to overturn and spill more than 10,000 gallons fuel onto the roadway. A power line also was affected by the crash.

Crews are at the scene. Idaho 75 between Sun Bean and Challis will remain closed until cleanup is completed, but according to the Idaho Transportation Department it is unclear how long that will take. If you’re traveling that way, call 511 for road conditions.

Names of those involved in the crash have not yet been released. More information will be posted as it becomes available.
