CAREY, Idaho (KLIX) A California woman died after the motorcycle she was riding on hit a deer late lastnight near Craters of the Moon National Monument. Idaho State Police say David Smart, age 30, of Minot, North Dakota, and Alexandria Porterfield, age 29, of Highland, California, were headed towards Arco on Highway 93 on a Honda motorcycle when they hit a deer; the two were thrown from the motorcycle. Porterfield died at the scene of the crash while Smart was flown by air ambulance to an eastern Idaho hospital. Porterfield was wearing a helmet while Smart was not. The highway was blocked for about three hours.
