You've undoubtedly noticed that the PlayStation Network has been a bit of a mess and has gone offline a bunch in the last few days. Sony wants to make it up to you.

Eric Lempel, Vice President of Sony Network Entertainment, has posted to the US PlayStation Blog with the news that PlayStation Plus members with an active membership or who had a free trial on Dec. 25, 2014 will be gifted with a five-day extension on their memberships. This is to make up for the difficulty users faced when trying to access the PlayStation Network the last few days. This extension is automatic, so you don't have to do anything.

In addition to the extra days of PlayStation Plus access, a 10 percent discount code will be offered later in the month, which will be got for a discount off a total cart purchase. This discount code will be available to all PlayStation Network members. We'll keep you updated when more information about this discount code is made available. Until then, enjoy your five free days of PlayStation Plus.
