Names Released In Jerome Toddler Hit and Run Death

Jerome, Idaho ( KMVT-TV / KSVT-TV ) - The Idaho State Police released the name of the toddler and the person who voluntarily came to police following the death of a child over the weekend in Jerome.

Police say Bernave Avila, 24 has not been arrested or been charged with any crime, but is a person of interest. Damian Garcia was identified by authorities as the 2 year old boy who died after being struck by a pickup truck. The incident happened on 21st street just west of Tiger Drive in Jerome on Friday evening. Police have impounded the truck and are currently processing it for evidence.

The family of the toddler has declined to comment on camera saying their only hope is for justice to be served.
