TWIN FALLS, Idaho (KLIX) – A popular theatrical release called “Meet the Mormons,” which highlights the stories of six different members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, hit movie theaters almost two years ago.

If you liked the film, which now is available on DVD and other outlets, you’ll be glad to hear the same producer has recently made several more 20-minute vignettes as part of the series.

“They’re brand new stories crafted in the same way as the original work,” Executive Producer Blair Treu, who also wrote and directed the original movie, said in a prepared statement. “We have the same creative team, so there’s a level of expectation that the stories are going to be entertaining and inspirational.”

The videos will premiere today in Salt Lake City, and available at the church’s English-speaking visitors’ centers by request starting in August. All nine vignettes will be rotated about every 30 minutes at the church’s Legacy Theater.

The three new stories highlight a horse trainer in northeastern Utah, a family of entertainers in Japan, and an artist who was born in Italy and now lives in the United States.

Also, the original six stories of “Meet the Mormons” have been updated with additional footage to make them stand-alone features.

The original film, which introduces audiences to six Latter-day Saints and their families who come from different cultures, ranked 10th nationwide in box office sales when it was released in October 2014, according to information from the producer; and has been ranked as one of the top 35 highest-earning documentary films of all time. It currently is available on DVD, YouTube and Netflix.

“They’re short pieces,” Treu said of the vignettes. “People can come and go as they like. They can see one, two, three or more films if they want, but it’s completely their option.”
