BOISE, Idaho (AP) — Prosecutors are asking a federal judge in Idaho to delay the trial of an Uzbek man charged with helping a terrorist organization.

Fazliddin Kurbanov, an Uzbek refugee who lives in Boise, was scheduled to stand trial on five terrorism-related charges in February. But on Wednesday, U.S. Attorney Wendy Olson asked U.S. District Judge Edward Lodge to postpone the trial until April 27, citing the complexity of the case. Prosecutors say the 31-year-old Kurbanov helped teach people to build bombs to target public transportation. Kurbanov has pleaded not guilty to the charges.

His attorney, Charles Peterson, has not objected to the prosecution's postponement request. The judge has not yet said whether he will grant the delay, but he has granted previous postponements in the case.
