MOSCOW, Idaho (AP) — Dozens of protesters demonstrated in Moscow when an oversized load of oil refinery equipment moved through town.

The Moscow-Pullman Daily News reports that law enforcement officers monitored the area as the load moved through the city just before midnight Monday without incident.

The load that is roughly 310 feet long, about 20 feet wide and weighs about 1 million pounds.

A permit granted Friday by the Idaho Transportation Department allows Bigge Crane to move the megaload from a port west of Lewiston and across northern Idaho as it heads for a refinery in Great Falls, Montana.

The load is traveling at night and being escorted by Idaho State Police.

The Idaho Transportation Department says the load stopped Tuesday morning south of Plummer.
