Beloved Car Talk co-host Tom Magliozzi has died at the age of 77.  His death came about as a result of complications from Alzheimer's disease.

Boston natives Tom and Ray Magliozzi hosted Car Talk for 35 years with over 1,200 episodes.

In college, I worked in Cambridge, MA just a few blocks down from the Car Talk studios near Harvard Square.  I still listen to reruns of their shows on Saturday mornings on our local NPR station in Twin Falls.

With their easy-to-love, jovial laughter and self-deprecating humor, it's easy to miss that these two brilliant men actually graduated from MIT with degrees in science.  Tom then went on to get both his MBA and DBA from MIT and Boston University, respectively, before opening their own shop and starting the popular Car Talk radio show.

Car talk reached some 3.3 million listeners in 2012 before the two retired.
