CASSIA COUNTY, Id. ( KMVT / KSVT ) Idaho fish and game officials are saying Gray Wolves have been heard howling in Cassia County, and they may be roaming the area.

Wolf tracks and a live stock death has convinced some ranchers the wolves are making their way south of the Snake River. According to reports, last year's Idaho wolf population numbers reached nearly 800, and although wolves aren't normally found south of the Snake River, wildlife officials say ranchers are seeing wolves in the mountains south of Cassia County.

One rancher out of Albion claims to have seen a wolf on his property and also believes a wolf attacked and killed his calf. Fish and game officials say although the department has credible sources reporting wolf tracks in the area, officials say they have no evidence of an actual wolf pack in Cassia County.
