BOISE, Idaho (AP) — Officials in southwestern Idaho are accusing a school board trustee in Idaho's largest school district of violating the state's open meeting laws.

The Idaho Statesman reports that a recall petition was filed Monday with the Ada County clerk seeking to oust five-term trustee Mike Vuittonet with the West Ada School District.

The petition claims that Vuittonet approved three illegal contracts with lucrative benefits for former superintendent Linda Clark.

Board members fired Clark Monday on a 3-1 vote after refusing to accept her previous resignation. Trustees said Clark had abandoned her job and violated ethics policies.

Vuittonet denies the accusations. He says that he has joined an effort to recall the four other trustees on the board.
