Rural Northern Nevada Gets Advertising Grants

LAS VEGAS (AP) — Elko Regional Airport gets $10,000 to advertise SkyWest flights from Salt Lake City and an Ely historic railroad foundation gets the same to make online videos about the Nevada Northern Railway.

The Nevada Commission on Tourism announced the funding Wednesday. They're two examples among several to receive Rural Grants Program awards to boost visitor counts. Elko airport hopes to get 5,000 more visitors as a result.

Ely's White Pine Historic Railroad Foundation says it could get up to 36,000 more visitors with its 20 online video programs. Other awards include: $8,000 to the Dam Short Film Society in Boulder City, $8,000 to the Lake Tahoe Visitors Authority for Amgen women's cycling race promotion, $6,500 to Indian Territory to promote tribal tourism and $3,800 for a Nevada Silver Trails brochure.
