Confirming leaked info we covered two months ago, Samsung and Oculus have formally unveiled the Gear VR, which will use the power of the Samsung Galaxy Note 4 to help run its virtual reality effects.

Polygon reports that Samsung and Oculus have revealed and confirmed the Gear VR headset's development during a press conference in Berlin. This VR headset will use the upcoming Galaxy Note 4 to provide the helmet's content and also uses the camera's gyroscopic capabilities to help capture the 360 world in 3D.

"Samsung Gear VR delivers an unrivaled viewing experience with the 5.7-inch quad HD Super AMOLED display of Galaxy Note 4 providing stunning and engaging visuals at a mobile-leading resolution," a Samsung representative said.

"With the Gear VR Innovator's Edition, users can sit in the best seat of a theater, can be on-stage of a performance with full 360 3D video, and can enjoy gaming like it's never been seen before — inside stunning worlds where imagination becomes reality. Samsung's industry leading Super AMOLED display technology and cutting-edge Oculus-driven technologies fuse to create an experience that surprises and delights — all on a mobile device."

We should note that the Oculus Rift Development Kit 2 already consists of the Note 3's screen, so a new VR headset made specifically for the Samsung Note 4 is understandable. The Gear VR will come with Avengers: Age of Ultron and Pacific Rim VR content. You can also play games, watch video content and much more.

Unfortunately, no sort of pricing or launch window has been announced for this upcoming VR headset.
