TWIN FALLS, Idaho (KLIX) – The Southern Idaho Economic Development Organization, which was organized in 2011 to grow economic development efforts in southern Idaho, has hired Jeff Hough as its executive director.
Hough, who begins his new duties on March 28, will lead economic development activities in southern Idaho and work with SIEDO’s executive board and local and regional entities. Efforts will focus on business expansion, recruitment and retention.
“We are excited to add Jeff Hough to SIEDO in support of our many communities, regional and state partners,” SIEDO Chairman Mike Schutz said in a prepared statement. “He brings an impressive set of skills to support economic growth in our region and is particularly experienced in digital media and marketing.
“His current role in workforce development will offer a fresh perspective to the region in drawing talent to fill the many available jobs here while also supporting existing and new business opportunities.”
Formerly, according to the news release issued Thursday, Hough served as director of workforce training at Idaho State University, where he was responsible for developing and delivering training programs. He also served as a business consultant at ISU in workforce training from 2008-2012, designing and facilitating numerous training sessions for businesses. Among his other accomplishments, Hough earned a bachelor of art’s degree in finance from ISU and plans to complete a master’s degree in athletic administration this fall.
“I am thrilled to have the opportunity to support and further the many successful economic successes southern Idaho has enjoyed over the years,” Hough said in the release. “I look forward to working with all of SIEDO’s regional and state partners, cities and rural communities.
“This region has so much to offer future workers, new businesses and existing businesses. This is an exciting time for southern Idaho and I look forward to taking the region’s economic development efforts to the next level.”
