BOISE, Idaho (News Release) – Applications are now being accepted for part of $1.2 million in Corporation for National and Community Service grant funds that can be used to support the cost of running an Idaho AmeriCorps program.

Idaho nonprofit, educational, labor, community and faith-based organizations, Indian tribes and local governments are eligible and encouraged to apply for the federal funds which are administered by Serve Idaho, the Governor’s Commission on Service and Volunteerism.

Grant awards vary based on the size and complexity of the AmeriCorps programs and provide funding for the following focus areas: disaster services, education, environmental stewardship, healthy futures, veterans and military families. Examples of currently funded Idaho AmeriCorps programs are described online.

The application deadline is Nov. 1; however, a notice of intent to apply for a grant must be filed by 5 p.m. Sept. 9. A technical assistance call will be held at 2 p.m. Sept. 13.
