NEW YORK (AP) — California, Massachusetts and Nevada have voted to legalize the recreational use of marijuana, giving a huge boost to the campaign to allow pot nationwide.

Six more states also voted on marijuana measures. California and Washington state have voted to toughen gun control laws. And in Nebraska, voters have reinstated the death penalty, reversing the Legislature's decision last year to repeal capital punishment. Nebraska has not executed an inmate since 1997.
