I will admit that I did a double-take when I first saw this. It's a claim that fatalities by car accidents are going down in Idaho. After some research, I learned that it's true, but there's a catch.

That's interesting, but if you look at exactly what the numbers are saying, fatalities aren't REALLY going down. It's a statement of number of fatalities PER PERSON in the state of Idaho. As the population of Idaho has risen, the fatalities per person has gone down. That makes sense.

Sadly, the actual number of fatalities has risen according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. According to their latest data, there has been a 9.5% increase in fatalities in 2016 compared to 2015. Sad.

It goes back to what we always say. Drive means drive. When you're behind the wheel, pay attention to your driving business so you and/or those also on the road don't end up on this list.
