REXBURG, Idaho (AP) — Southeastern Idaho authorities say a post on a social networking site that threatened a school shooting at Brigham Young University-Idaho is the result of a bad joke. Rexburg Police Capt. Randy Lewis says the 19-year-old student made the post Sunday on a site called Yik Yak expecting software to prevent it from posting. But it went through, and was then reposted by someone else as a screenshot on Twitter and from there quickly spread. Lewis says the student contacted police and was taken into custody.

He was questioned at the Rexburg police station before being released. Lewis says the Madison County Prosecutor's Office is investigating. University spokesman Marc Stevens says the school is waiting for the investigation to finish before making any decisions concerning the unnamed student.
