Watch as sports radio host Boomer Esiason rips apart Daniel Murphy, Mets second baseman, because Murphy is on paternity leave.  Should men be allowed to take paternity leave?

Here's the video where Boomer Esiason makes his statements:

Here's the kicker, according to USA Today:

Esiason, a former NFL quarterback, argues that Murphy and his wife should have scheduled a Caesarian-section birth before the season started, because, hey, why wouldn’t someone want to subject his wife and child to the increased risks inherent in that procedure on behalf of two games of Mets baseball?

Here's my thinking: If Murphy's wife would have been game for a C-Section so he didn't have to miss opening day, great.  If not, suck it Boomer!

The fact that men AND women can take leave to spend time with their children is awesome!  Leaving work is a HUGE sacrifice that usually only makes it more difficult for your company and co-workers, but you only live once and each person has to decide what is more important: your family or your job?

Murphy chose his family and I can't fault the man for that.

I myself will be taking maternity leave for three months.  I feel REALLY bad for leaving my co-workers down a man (woman) and for leaving you for so long.  However, I plan on coming back to work after that time.

So for the first three months of my little guy's life, I'm going to bond with him, spend time with him, love him, and it's going to be awesome.  When I say awesome, I mean hard, sleepless nights, that will be truly amazing.

I'm choosing my family over my job (I really love my job too).

Paternity leave is a personal choice, so eat it Boomer Esiason.  What say you?
