Some Idahoans long ago enshrined the Boy Scout motto “Be prepared”.

he doesn’t want to wake up the morning of a societal collapse and find 8 satellite trucks in his barnyard

They’ve stored up supplies and believe they can ride out catastrophe whether man-made or from nature.  There are scores of publications designed to assist them as well as offer advice if you plan joining the movement.

Many homes in isolated parts of the state aren’t visible from highways.  The belief being if nobody knows you’re comfortable back in the woods you won’t be pestered or harassed.  In the words of James Wesley, Rawles, he doesn’t want to wake up the morning of a societal collapse and find 8 satellite trucks in his barnyard.

Other homes may be more visible but the design is almost intimidating as you can see here.  It’s luxurious but looks like a fortress sprouting from sagebrush.

Would you join the movement if you could or do you plan to ride out disaster as you always do with a healthy dose of prayer?
