BOISE, Idaho  (KTVB) - Two Idaho ski resorts plan to fire up their lifts and open the season on Thanksgiving Day.

Sun Valley and Pomerelle announced the opening day, with both saying that recent heavy snowfall will make for excellent conditions for those making their first turns of the season. In its announcement, Sun Valley said both Bald and Dollar mountains, as well as the Progression terrain park, will be open starting Thursday. The resort currently has 19 inches of snow at the top and 12 inches at the base.

Pomerelle said the mountain will be open Thursday through Sunday on opening week. After that, it will be open Fridays through Sundays until the Christmas holiday break. The resort said they are excited to fire up their new triple chairlift. Pomerelle currently has 10 inches of snow at the summit, with six inches falling over the last week.
