We told you recently that the first 20th Anniversary Edition PlayStation 4 was going up for auction, and the result brought in a hefty six-figure sum for charity.

The Wall Street Journal reports that the auction for the No. 00001 unit 20th Anniversary Edition PlayStation 4 has officially sold for ¥15.135 million ($129,000). The auction was held in Japan and proceeds are set to go to Save The Children Japan, a charity that has been working to help out the victims of the Great East Japan earthquake and tsunami as well as continuing support to those in need.

If you're wondering what makes the console so popular, it's simple: supply and demand. Sony made this special edition PlayStation 4 for its 20th anniversary and it featured a look and feel of the original PlayStation. Sony only made 12,300 units of the console, which sold out a mere hour after it was first put up for sale on Sony's site.

The lot ended with 1,585 bids that started from a simple ¥1. “We appreciate all who participated in the auction and are surprised at the highest bid price, which was higher than our expectations,” a Sony representative said. Now, all Sony has to do is contact the winner of the auction for payment and then match that price with its own donation to Save the Children Japan.

If you missed the pre-order of the 20th Anniversary Edition PlayStation 4, there's still hope for you, but it'll cost you. There are many bidding sites pushing out these exclusive PlayStation 4's, but you'll definitely have to pay a hefty fee to get your hands on one.
