After countless hours of hand-wringing anticipation, Nintendo has finally announced the release date for Super Smash Bros. on the Wii U.

The fighting frenzy will begin on Nov. 21, just ahead of the busiest shopping week of the year in the U.S. With the announcement, Nintendo finally ended countless hours of speculation that Super Smash Bros. for the Wii U would be delayed into 2015, and also gave the upcoming console fighter the dubious distinction of being one of the latest release date announcements in the company's long history.

In addition to the standard $59.99 edition, a second bundled version will be available which includes a newly styled GameCube controller, as well as a USB adapter for additional controllers. You can get the bundled version for $99.99. Single GameCube controllers will be offered for $29.99, and stand-alone adapters will cost $19.99 as well.

Super Smash Bros. on the Nintendo 3DS earned some high marks from us when it arrived earlier this month, giving hope that the console version of the popular series would follow suit. While that all remains to be seen, at least we'll be finding out in approximately 46 days.
