BOISE, Idaho (AP) — A "suspicious device" that brought the bomb squad to a Boise homeless shelter was just a make-shift battery pack used to light up the star on the top of the Christmas tree.

KTVB-TV reports one of the shelter's tech-savvy guests had made the battery pack out of a toilet paper roll, batteries, saran wrap and wires. A janitor called police on Saturday when he saw the device. A shelter spokesman says it did look like it could have been a bomb.
