SW Idaho Teacher Resigns After Past Comes to Light
CALDWELL, Idaho (AP) — A southwest Idaho middle school teacher has resigned after disciplinary action in Oregon came to light.
Officials at Vallivue School District tell the Idaho Press-Tribune that 46-year-old James Verity resigned this week. Sage Valley Middle School Principal Sean Smith says Verity resigned following a report that Oregon in 2006 revoked Verity's license for one year.
USA Today first reported that the revocation followed an investigation that found Verity engaged in physical conduct with a student he coached on the high school girls' basketball team. Smith says no inappropriate behavior occurred at Sage Valley Middle School and that Verity was an effective teacher.
