Blue Oyster Cult

Founding Blue Oyster Cult keyboardist and guitarist Allen Lanier has died at the age of 67 after being hospitalized with Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease, according to the band's official Facebook page. "DFTR sweet man," the post reads, in apparent reference to their hit 'Don't Fear the Reaper.' "We love you and miss you."

Good news - Season 12 of ‘That Metal Show’ has been confirmed and several classic rockers have made the short list for guest spots over the eight new episodes. The guests dropping by the TMS studio throughout the season run the gamut from classic rockers to brand new members of some veteran acts, offering a balance of musical tastes.

Fans had to wait a little longer than expected to see it, but Blue Oyster Cult reformed its original lineup on Monday (Nov. 5) -- and even if you weren't in attendance, you can still experience the show thanks to a heaping helping of audience footage from the show.

For far too many youngsters, Blue Oyster Cult are only known as the band that was parodied on 'Saturday Night Live's' famous 'More Cowbell' sketch. But that overlooks their long career as arguably heavy metal's brainiest band, with such classics as 'Don't Fear the Reaper' and 'Godzilla to their credit. Regardless, the band will perform a 40th anniversary concert at the New York's Best Buy Theater
