A Texas Police Officer has been suspended after using a taser on a 76 year old man and it was all captured on video.

23 year old Victoria, Texas Police Officer Nathaniel Robinson has been placed on administrative leave after using a taser on 76 year old Pete Vasquez for an expired inspection sticker. Robinson pulled Vasquez over for the violation. Vasquez argued that the cars dealer tags made it exempt from needing an inspection sticker. When Robinson went to cuff Vasquez, the elderly man pulled his arm back from the officer. Robinson forced the man to the hood of his patrol vehicle then took him to the ground before deploying his taser.

Vasquez was then transported to a local hospital where he remained in police custody for two hours before being released without citations or charges. Raw Story reports that Police Chief J.J. Craig offered an official apology to Vasquez saying,

Public trust is extremely important to us. Sometimes that means you have to take a real hard look at some of the actions that occur within the department.”

Officer Robinson is on administrative leave while there is an investigation into the incident. If it is determined that the officer violated the law, he could be fired from his job and could face charges of Aggravated Assault, Injury to the Elderly and Official Oppression.
