Given the nature of the music business and countless bands that have returned after completing their farewell tours, there's rightful speculation about the end of the mighty Black Sabbath. The band is one the back end of their 'The End' tour which will conclude in early 2017 and while mainman Tony Iommi has reiterated this will indeed by the end of touring, he's left the door open for other Sabbath opportunities.

In a new interview with Ultimate Classic Rock, Iommi reflected on the both the beginning of his Black Sabbath career as well the finality. When asked if he goes on vacation after tour, the riff master responded, "No, a vacation for me is to be at home. But I’m not going to leave the music business. I still want to write and play and I’ll be doing some TV for something over here in England called Guitar Star. But I love the playing, I love gigs, I just can’t travel anymore."

As for the future of Sabbath, Iommi was noncommittal, offering a simple, "Maybe." Expanding on this notion, he continued, "As I said, I’ll be doing some writing. Maybe I’ll be doing something with the guys, maybe in the studio, but no touring."

The question of new material is something that has been brought up to Iommi's other long-term Sabbath bandmates, Ozzy Osbourne and Geezer Butler. Ozzy has expressed a desire to hit the studio for one more solo album following the end of Black Sabbath's run, but has remained opened to the possibility of recording with Iommi and Butler again.

Black Sabbath's final shows will take place at the Genting Arena in their native Birmingham, England on Feb. 2 and 4 of 2017.
