Now that the season of giving is over, food banks continue to work year-round and their need is never ending.  Reddit did a recent survey and it found that food banks are in need of a lot of items that they just are not asking for.

Keep this list in mind the next time you're making a food bank donation.

    Spices

This makes a lot of sense.  Think how far a little salt and pepper can make even the worst foods taste better?  Since food banks get a LOT of non-perishable food items, spices could really bring them back to life.  From salt and pepper, to seasoned salts, cayenne pepper, chili powder, cumin, cinnamon, nutmeg, allspice, oregano, basil and whatever else you like.

    Feminine Products

Just because you can't afford something does not stop nature from happening.  Women still needs these items and food pantries would gladly accept items like pads, tampons, panty liners, etc. Hit up Costco and buy in bulk.  This would make a LOT of women very happy.

    Toiletries

It's true that unsold or food surplus is easily donated by grocery stores, but toiletries don't really go bad.  Think about how precious toilet paper is when you really need some.  Donate things like tooth paste, tooth brushes, deodorant, shampoo and conditioner, soap, toilet paper, etc.
