One in eight women will get breast cancer in their lifetime.  That sucks.  Those statistics hit right here locally and the whole point of Bras Across The Canyon is, don't let anything stop you from living.  If you can't afford medical care, visit the Wellness Tree Community Clinic.  They provide breast health services to the under insured.

So why do I care about breast cancer awareness?

When I was born my mother had ovarian cancer and when I was a bald baby, she too was bald, however that was from her chemo therapy.

How did she find the strength to take care of two small children and fight cancer?  Thankfully my dad was there to support her, but I believe my mother is a fighter.  She won her fight against ovarian cancer and I'm thankful to still have her here with me today.

Since ovarian cancer and breast cancer tend to hang out in similar circles, my OBGYN always cringes when I mention my own family history.  Because of my family history, I have always been involved in breast cancer awareness events.

Today, I met two more fighters: Debbie Lattin and her sister-in-law Maxine Winterholler.  Please check out both of their inspiring stories and their messages to all women below.

Debbie Lattin Insurance is presenting the Bras Across The Canyon bridge walk this Saturday at 2:30 PM.  She will lead the walk.  How inspiring.  Mrs. Lattin and her sister-in-law are still alive.  Breast cancer is NOT a death sentence.

Check yourself ladies!  Men, help your wife check her breast if you have to.  Do whatever you have to do to get her to check her breast so you can keep her around for a long, long time.

I hope to see you there THIS Saturday.
