Twin Falls Considering Earlier School Year
TWIN FALLS, Idaho (AP) — Students in the southern Idaho city of Twin Falls may see their summer end a bit early next year.
The Times-News reports the Twin Falls School District is considering starting the next school year a week earlier, on Aug. 20.
Officials say the change would better align the school district's calendar with the College of Southern Idaho, and that would help students taking dual-credit classes. The last day of school would also be moved up, to May 26.
The proposal has some Twin Falls County 4-H coordinators concerned. They say the earlier start to the year will force kids to decide whether to skip school to participate in the county fair, which is often the highlight of the 4-H program.
