FAIRFIELD, Idaho (KLIX)- A Twin Falls High School student died during a ski trip north of Fairfield this past weekend. According to Twin Falls School District Spokesperson Eva Craner, a freshman female  student died while skiing at Soldier Mountain Saturday.

According to Camas County Sheriff David L. Sanders his officers were called to the ski resort at around 11:18 a.m.. The sheriff says Taylor Biggs, 14, of Twin Falls struck the side of a building and was unconscious and not breathing.

Soldier Mountain Ski Patrol were giving medical attention when emergency crews arrived. Medical staff attempted life saving measures but could not revive the Twin Falls High student.

Sheriff Sanders says Biggs was flown by emergency helicopter to a Boise hospital where she died. He says she was wearing a helmet at the time of the accident.

Craner says Biggs is a member of the school ski club that makes routine trips to area ski destinations.

School Counselors were made available to students at Twin Falls High School Monday. Extra councilors have also been brought in from area schools.

A number of post on facebook.com expressed concern for the family and extended thoughts and prayers for them.
