The City of Twin Falls has issued a press release asking residents to clear snow from rooftops and away from property to help prevent flooding and collapsed roofs.

(tfid.org) Due to the potential for additional snow, rain, and freezing temperatures, the City of Twin Falls is asking all residents to clear snow from rooftops and away from homes and businesses. This FEMA guide will provide valuable information and safety tips.

Residents should clear snow from flat or low-pitched rooftops, remove snow from basement window wells, and remove snow at least 15-feet from homes and businesses. DO NOT place snow on or around storm drains or in drainage basins.

By following these steps, residents can help mitigate the likelihood of flooding in their homes and businesses, as well as the possibility of a collapsed roof, in the event of a significant snow storm or localized flooding.

The City of Twin Falls is asking residents to help other members of our community -- such as the elderly -- who may not be able to remove snow from their residence.
