GRANGEVILLE, Idaho (AP) — Two Utah men have died in a small plane crash in north-central Idaho.

The Idaho County Sheriff's Office says 57-year-old pilot David Ray Fitzgerald and 61-year-old Randy Scott Butters died when their two-seat, single-engine experimental craft went down in a remote area near Yellow Pine. Undersheriff Jim Gorges in a news release on Thursday says authorities received a report late Tuesday of a possible airplane crash involving the two men from Salt Lake City.

A search on Wednesday located the crash site. The bodies were recovered and taken to a funeral home in Grangeville. Gorges says the men often went on sightseeing trips and were traveling from Sulphur Creek Ranch near Cascade to Dixie on a tour of backcountry airstrips. The National Transportation Safety Board is investigating the crash.
