USS Boise to Undergo Change of Command
NORFOLK, Va. (AP) — The USS Boise is undergoing a change of command. Cmdr. Chris Osborn will relieve Cmdr. Scott Luers as commanding officer of the attack submarine during a ceremony Friday. The Boise is home ported at Naval Station Norfolk, Virginia. It joined the fleet in 1992. The 360-foot Los Angeles-class submarine is the second naval ship to be named in honor of the city of Boise, Idaho. The crew includes 13 officers and 116 enlisted sailors. Fast-attack submarines like USS Boise perform anti-submarine warfare, anti-ship warfare and conduct intelligence operations, among other things.
