Veto Trump Bill Clears Idaho Senate
BOISE, Idaho (AP) — The Idaho Senate has unanimously approved a proposal to amend the state's constitution to allow the Legislature to override a governor's veto almost immediately.
The amendment would allow lawmakers to convene after the end of the session on bills the governor rejected. That would allow them to enact a bill despite a veto if they have a two-thirds majority vote from each house.
After passing the Senate Friday, the bill now goes to the House for approval. However, a similar proposal failed to even get a hearing in the House in 2014. Idaho is one of six states that don't have this ability.
