TWIN FALLS, Id. ( KMVT / KSVT ) A water line has ruptured closing a portion of Blue Lakes near Caswell Avenue. The break happened at about 9:50 a.m. The city of Twin Falls has temporarily closed the outside southbound lane of Blue Lakes Boulevard south of Caswell Avenue. Crews are working to repair the waterline as quickly as possible.

Authorities say that if necessary the city may need to close both southbound lanes and direct all the southbound traffic to the center turn lane.

Southbound traffic is encouraged to detour around the site by using either Eastland Avenue or Washington Street. Drivers passing through the site are asked to reduce speeds and yield to construction workers and equipment. The line is expected to be repaired and all lanes reopened by early Friday, Oct. 23.

The waterline is believed to be an old service line. Currently, water pressure at nearby homes and businesses has not been affected. Centennial Square businesses may still be accessed from Caswell Avenue.
