The warm season is here and that means more and more of you are going to be spending time outside, which is great.  However, you might need the services of your local Quick Response Unit and that could be scary.

A Quick Response Unit is basically our rural emergency response team.  Most of the men and women who do this are volunteers.  Yes, they are volunteering their time and money to help complete strangers.  That's impressive!

On Sunday, June 1, 2014 the Seventh Annual Quick Response Unit Fundraiser will happen at the Twin Falls County Fair Grounds in Filer.  This is to not only create awareness for our local QRUs, but to raise much needed funding for them (AKA for you!)

Here is their mission statement:

The mission of the Annual QRU Fundraiser Event is to create awareness of the need for support and unite the Magic Valley community in support of and funding of our rural emergency response teams.

The majority of these men and women work on a volunteer basis while purchasing many of their much needed supplies and training from their own pockets. They use their own vehicles a lot of the time and leave “day jobs” to respond to emergencies as they arise. The QRU’s are the first line of response to many of our outdoor enthusiast activity areas and are often times behind the scenes of appreciation. Injuries or accidents suffered by outdoor enthusiasts and travelers on rural highways and roads often occur in areas far from a local hospital and emergency services. Without these units being available in rural areas, response from an emergency team could take over an hour or more in some areas.

We are helping these QRU’s in hopes that if or when we need them, they will be able to be there with the equipment and training needed to save our lives and the lives of our loved ones!

Thank you to Teri from the Castleford QRU for coming in to talk about this great event:

Thank you to Brandy from the Rock Creek Quick Response Unit covering Kimberly, Hansen, and Murtaugh areas for coming in to talk about this fundraiser.
