Wildfire Northeast of Boise is 96 Percent Contained

BOISE, Idaho (AP) — A late-season wildfire 40 miles northeast of Boise is 96 percent contained and Idaho's wildfire season appears to be coming to a close.

Fire officials on Monday say more than an inch of rain has fallen on the 9-square-mile fire in the last several days and more wet weather and cool temperatures are expected. Officials say demobilization of some 370 firefighters has begun but some will remain securing fire lines, patrolling and mopping up.

Rehabilitation of fire lines in some areas continues with chipping of woody debris. The human-caused fire started at about 3 p.m. on Oct. 10 and quickly spread into timber with strong winds, destroying three cabins.
