A winter storm will move into the western Magic Valley Saturday afternoon (Dec. 27) and could drop up to four inches of snow by Sunday afternoon (Dec. 28).

The National Weather Service in Boise has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for snow across the southern Highlands, and southern Twin Falls County along with the western Magic Valley which is in effect from 11 pm Saturday (Dec. 27) to 11 am Sunday (Dec. 28).

  • Snow Amounts: 2 to 4 inches by Sunday afternoon.
  • Winds: Southwest 10 to 15 mph with gusts to 20 to 25 mph.

Light snow is possible early Saturday evening but heavier snow amounts will occur after midnight and begin to taper off by midday Sunday.

Precautionary / Preparedness Actions

A Winter Weather Advisory for snow means that periods of snow will cause travel difficulties. Be prepared for snow covered roads with limited visibilities and use caution while driving.

Travel conditions for all Idaho roads, highways, and interstates are available on Idaho 511 from the Idaho Department of Transportation.
