Return to Castle Wolfenstein in Wolfenstein: The Old Blood, a standalone prequel to The New Order.

Bethesda Softworks has announced Wolfenstein: The Old Blood, which is a prequel to last year's excellent first-person shooter, Wolfenstein: The New Order. The Old Blood is a standalone expansion to The New Order, meaning that you don't need the full title to experience this prequel story on PC, PlayStation 4 or Xbox One. The Old Blood tells the story of Castle Wolfenstein, which you may remember was part of the introductory sequence of The New Order.

In Castle Wolfenstein, you must once again play B.J. Blazkowicz as he enters this Bavarian Nazi stronghold and steal coordinates to General Deathsheads main compound. Of course, things don't go always as planned, and the maniacal Nazi forces are going to need some bullets to the face. In the second half of this expansion, you must find a Nazi archaeologist, Helga Von Schabbs, in Wulfburg and stop her from unleashing an ancient dark power into the world.

“Diving back into the world of Wolfenstein has really been fun for us,” said Jerk Gustafsson, executive producer at MachineGames. “We’ve enjoyed exploring the events leading up to The New Order. We think fans will really enjoy the story, all the action and, of course, jumping back into the combat with new weapons.”

Wolfenstein: The Old Blood will launch May 5 for $19.99 on PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
