There are a surprising number of people who have gone missing from United States national parks over the years. One man who went hiking in a Central California park in September of 2021 has never been heard from again.

Tens of thousands of people have gone missing in U.S. national parks since officials began tracking such statistics many decades ago. Yellowstone National Park and Yosemite National Park are two popular destinations that have had some of the highest reported numbers of missing persons, according to thetravel.com. More than 1,100 people have been reported missing in Arizona's Grand Canyon National Park since 2018 alone.

If you know the whereabouts of Joel Thomazin, or believe you may have seen any of his belongings while visiting the park, please call the Yosemite National Park ranger's office at 209-372-0200.

There have been more than 30 people that have gone missing in the past seven years from Yosemite National Park, according to park information. Joel Thomazin is one of those missing people. Joel's son Titus hasn't seen or heard from his father in almost three years.

The case has been featured in a number of missing documentaries and television shows, including Missing 411: National Park Disappearances. What's strange about Thomazin's case is that he was hiking with a large, red kayak when he went missing.

Hetch Hetchy is a valley in the park where Thomazin was thought to have explored in the days leading up to his disappearance. He was also hiking with a GPS watch, fishing gear, and a bright green sleeping bag.

If you know the whereabouts of Joel Thomazin, or believe you may have seen any of his belongings while visiting the park, please call the Yosemite National Park ranger's office at 209-372-0200.
