8 Year Old Fulfills Dream of Writing a Book for Local Library in Boise

Children grow up with big dreams. They want to be firefighters, doctors, superheroes, or something potentially made up. As kids, we once dreamed of what we wanted to be as well, with many of us never achieving it. An 8-year-old boy in Boise recently had a dream and he did everything in his power to make sure it came true for him.

Boise Boy Writes a Book

Dillion Helbig, an 8-year-old boy in Boise, dreamed of one day having a book that he had written, put in the library since he was five years old. That dream became a reality recently, but not the way most would expect. Dillion was given a journal by his grandmother and decided to write a story. Writing a book wasn't this boy's dream though, so how to get it onto a library shelf was his next mission.

Dillion Succeeds in His Dream

With most libraries there is a process for books to make it onto their shelves, They have to be processed, have the right stickers, and be placed in the right area. It is a dedicated process, and one other criteria is that the book is usually officially published. Dillion didn't want to go that route and took matters into his own hands.

He placed his own stickers on the book, to make it look as official as possible, and then he decided to sneak his self-written book into his local library and placed it on the shelf himself. He came clean and told his mom later, but when they returned, the book was gone. One of the librarians had found it, but the story doesn't end there.

Book Officially in Library's System

The employees read Dillion's book and thought it fit perfectly. After receiving permission from the author and his family, they processed the book, put on the proper stickers, and put it back on their shelves for people to check out. The book is in high demand now as there is a waiting list to check it out.

If you have a goal, don't let anything stand in your way. Dillion was determined to get a book he had written on the shelf of his library and he made sure it happened one way or another.
