Emo pioneer Morrissey has always worn his love of animals on his sleeve, going as far titling the second album he made with The Smiths 'Meat is Murder.'

But the stanch vegetarian and outspoken animal rights advocate recently learned that inter-species respect is sometimes a one-way street when a dog took a bite out of the 52-year old, injuring his finger.

"Morrissey sustained hand and arm injuries recently after being attacked by a dog in England," read a post on the Morrissey fan website True To You. "Morrissey went to a hospital in Malmo (Sweden) where x-rays reveal a fractured index finger on his right hand. The cracked bone is at the tip of the finger. The injury will not affect upcoming shows."

You can hear Morrissey passionately plead on behalf of his furry friends below.
